....and we're back! ...First review: Mountain Dew - Zero Sugar

Product Review: Mountain Dew - Zero Sugar

So, yeah ...took some time off...and now I'm back with a very long to-do list for this blog. Too long, probably. I don't really know where to start; so I will be just jumping into it blinding and making everyone think I totally have it all planned out.

I am trying not to drink sugary beverages. Soda...mmm yummy delicious soda...it is my largest vice...I love them so much. Diet sodas...*sigh*. They make me ugh...just..ugh. I WILL drink them, but I will complain and make faces at it the entire time.
Soooo...magically, almost as if PepsiCo people KNEW I needed a high caffeinated sugar-free beverage....*cue angelic music*--- Mountain Dew Zero Sugar was released (Jan 13th)!

I buy one...just to try. I assumed it would be a diet version like the other sugar free versions of sodas and it will be yucky and make me unhappy. It has the familiar green glow of the original Mt. Dew that has brightened so many peoples mornings over the years. But...how does it taste?

I sip. *one eyebrow goes up*. I sip more...and then more. It's yummy...how? I don't care how...I drink the 20 oz bottle in a 20 minutes...whatever. It's now my new go-to soda!! It has almost the exact same flavor as the original Dew, and with the 113mg of caffeine per 20oz...they've sold me without even trying. Wooo!

I give this product a 10/10. I have no negatives to add.

Wewalka Party!!!

Wewalka Party!

Our most recent party included pastry and pizza dough from Wewalka!

Wewalka was created by a European baker named Johann Wewalka, back in 1994. Now, the company provides fresh dough for more than 30 countries in Europe and Asia -- and is now here in America! A focus on high quality ingredients is evident in the products' before and after baking.

The best ingredients have NO artificial flavors or colors, no high frutose corn syrup, no hydrogenated oils and no bleached flour. Suitable for vegetarians, and packaging that aids in freshness (one way valvue that vents CO2!).

Links to ALL the recipes we tried are at the bottom of this post!

Wewalka offers ready-to-use pastry, flatbread, pizza, and pie crusts. Available in various locations (click here to find a local store here you), I found it in the refrigerated section at Wal-Mart!

The products we tried were the Bistro Pizza, Classic Pizza and Puff Pastry doughs. The pizza doughs' were both fantastic, easy to use and baked up perfectly! Our recipes with the Puff Pasty dough also turned out fantastic, even though it was the first time using Puff Pastry for many of us.

Above you can see the Classic Pizza crust, (left) it is the perfect rectangle shape for a regular sized cookie sheet pan. On the right is a finished pizza, YUMMY! The crust is about a medium thickness, and could be stretched out to a thinner crust, or doubled over for an double thickness.

The crust above is the Bistro Pizza (Round and Thin Crust). This was my favorite of the two pizza crusts, it baked up great and had crisp edges and just enough crust to hold all my toppings.

A McDonalds review....a good one, this time!

A McDonalds Review....that isn't bad. Wait...what?

Normally...I avoid McDonalds, especially the one nearest to where I live. I have been burned so many times by this place, I rarely expect anything more than microwaved food, incorrect orders and cold fries for increasingly high prices.

Sooooo...one day...no food around and we decide to go to our local McD's and order something crappy for lunch, not expecting much more than the above. They have this new thing...."Signature Crafted Sandwiches".

"Meh, ok" we say, and order two different kinds. He gets the Pico Guacamole Burger, on an artisan roll and I order the Maple bacon Dijon crispy chicken sandwich, also on an artisan roll. We get home...and he is first to try his burger, which he loved. But to be fair...he was hungry and would have been happy with most anything.

My Maple Bacon crispy chicken sandwich ...shown below ...was amazing. Seriously. For a fast food place, the chicken was moist, yet cooked. The onions were grilled but not raw, the bacon actually had flavor and the Dijon added a nice little zip of flavor.

This review has not been paid for... in fact, I paid full price for it. I am disappointed that McDonalds is raising prices on almost everything, but most fast food places are...meh.

This, however....was yummmmmy.
